What is OpenLab neotex 4.0

OpenLab neotex 4.0 is an open laboratory that provides access to digital manufacturing technologies and prototyping machines for students, researchers, industrialists and entrepreneurs to implement innovative projects related to the transition towards an Industry 4.0.

OpenLab neotex 4.0 is part of the services provided by neotex 4.0 center managed by the Monastir-El Fejja Competitiveness Pole (MFCPOLE). It is also a part of the OpenLab network – ​​a global network of open labs – and is a member of the international Fab Lab Association.

OpenLab neotex 4.0 is created due to the synergy between PISWI project and neotex 4.0 center.

PISWI project is a collaborative project coordinated by Helmut Schmidt University (HSU) in partnership with National Engineering School  of Tunis (ENIT), National Engineering School  of Monastir (ENIM), Higher Institute of Technological Studies of Ksar Hellal (ISET KH) and MFCPOLE. It aims to develop, implement, and disseminate Open Labs as spaces for experiential technological learning. It focuses on creating hardware products and innovations based on Open Source Appropriate Technology (OSAT), actively contributing to the development of an infrastructure for open manufacturing in Tunisia.

neotex 4.0 center is part of the National Initiative “Towards an Industry 4.0 in Tunisia” launched by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy with the support of the European Union and the Special Initiative «Decent Work for a Just Transition» –Invest for Jobs, mandated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ Tunisia.

OpenLab neotex 4.0 is an opportunity for Textiles and Materials communities to discover OSAT technologies (Open Source Appropriate Technology) and learn more about their role in the transition towards Industry 4.0 in these sectors.

3D printers

3D printing machines available in the OpenLab neotex 4.0The OpenLab provides three 3D Printers. With these machines, users can create complex 3D structures using different types of filaments, such as PLA, PETG, ASA, TPU and soluble materials

Small format CNC machine available in the OpenLab neotex 4.0This machine can be used to work on several types of materials such as wood or plastic.

Small format Laser Cutter available in the OpenLab neotex 4.0With the Laser Cutter, users can cut and/or engrave materials such as paper, wood, and to certain extent some plastics and fabrics

This machine can be used to cut and/or engrave materials such as textiles with blades or laser technology.
